The King Has Come

In this series we are journeying through Matthew’s Gospel where we see the arrival of King Jesus, the Messiah and how He has made His Kingdom available to all.

The Compassionate God

In this series we explore the compassion that God shows not only to Nineveh but to Jonah himself. And in this, we will see a lot of ourselves in the failed prophet. But God’s grace and compassion reign supreme.

More About Us

What We Believe:

The one and only true God exists in three equal and eternal persons – the Father, the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit.

That God gives every Christian gifts to be used in serving Him and others, both within and outside His church.

God loves us and offers a new relationship with Himself if we will turn back to Him and trust in Jesus – He died on the cross as a substitute payment for the sins of all who trust in Him. God forgives all who believe in Jesus and becomes their Father. Together with every other Christian through history we are God’s family.

The Bible is God’s true and reliable word for us and when it is accurately taught, it will always prove to be relevant.

After 3 days Jesus was raised from the grave, He then appeared to many eyewitnesses and ascended to heaven.

Heaven and hell are real and eternal and no alternative state exists.

All people are morally and spiritually flawed (‘sin’ in Bible language) and we are born separated from God.

He will return in triumph to judge those who are alive then and all those who have died since the beginning of time.

All who repent and believe in Jesus will show evidence of this in a life of learning God’s Word in the Bible and then putting that into practice in every aspect of their lives. This will bring glory to God, benefit His church and grow us for God.

Meet the Team

Jason Devenish

Lead Pastor

Jason is the pastor of Christ Church Sandton. He is passionate about faithfully teaching the Bible, helping people grow in their walk with Jesus, and building a church community that mirrors that of the church in Acts 2. Jason has a heart for seeing the Gospel shape everyday life — in families, workplaces, and the city of Sandton as a whole. He is married to Megan, and enjoys coffee, socializing with friends and the occasional Manchester United win when he’s not preaching or pastoring.

Johan Du Toit

Ministry Curate

Johan currently serves as a curate at Christ Church Sandton, where he has been since 2025. After studying Economics, Johan felt the Lord leading him into ministry and later pursued theological training. He has a deep love for God’s Word, for preaching, and for walking alongside people as they grow in their faith in Jesus. Along with his wife, Nadia, Johan plans to return to Pretoria in 2027 to plant a church in Queenswood, trusting God to build a gospel-centred community there. Johan’s heart is to grow in his identity in Christ and to see others impacted by the Gospel. When he’s not busy with ministry, he enjoys reading, swimming, road trips with his wife, and spending time with family and God’s people.

Brenda Chindoko

Ministry Assistant

Brenda has a natural gift for making people feel safe and understood, often bringing calm, encouragement, and joy into every environment she steps into. She is committed to growing in her walk with Jesus and is passionate about serving faithfully in her local church community. Driven by a desire to uplift young people, Brenda loves creating, planning, and dreaming — especially around projects that inspire growth, connection, and personal transformation.
In her downtime, Brenda loves good conversations, slow mornings, wholesome routines, and finding beauty in simple moments. She enjoys travelling, discovering new coffee spots, spending quality time with family and friends, and trying out different foods whenever she gets the chance.

At the Core of Who we Are

Mission: Christ Church Sandton exists to encourage people to come to faith in Jesus Christ and then to grow in relationship with Him and with others.

Vision: To see the people of our city impacted, transformed and renewed by the Gospel, as we live out our mission.

Acts 2:42-47 is integral in who we are as a church. The key elements of who we are can be seen in verse 42: “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

So, at the core of who we are, we want to see:

R

The Word

The Word of God is foundational to all things in our lives as Christians. We believe that God’s Word must be at the center of all church activities, from our kids to our older members and everyone in between.

R

Fellowship

Our desire is to see Christian fellowship (deep friendship) taking place not just on Sundays but throughout the week. We believe that it is in the context of these relationships that Christians thrive and grow in their faith.

R

The Breaking of Bread

The breaking of bread in Acts is not necessarily referring to Holy Communion. That doesn’t mean we don’t do it or that we dont value it. However, in Acts 2, we see that sharing a meal together is a crucial part of church life.

R

Prayer

When we stop praying, we believe that we can be God’s church without Him. Prayer was integral in the life of the church in Acts 2, and therefore it must be integral in the life of the church today.
